Celebrating its 62nd year, Virgin Islands–Puerto Rico Friendship Day will be observed on Oct. 12, 2026, the traditional second Monday in October. The public holiday honors the historical and cultural connections between the two U.S. territories and coincides with Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Local events like the multiday VI–PR Village festival on St. Croix feature food, music and cultural presentations. Government offices are closed, but local restaurants and businesses typically are open.
