NO PASSPORT REQUIRED FOR U.S. VISITORS
As a United States Territory, travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands does not require a passport for U.S. citizens arriving from Puerto Rico or the U.S. mainland.
But as of May 7, 2025, all U.S. airline passengers 18 years and older, including Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck® members, must present a state-issued REAL ID-compliant identification or another acceptable ID, such as a passport, at airport TSA security checkpoints.
U.S. visitors are encouraged to upgrade to a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or ID card, which will feature a star in the upper-right corner. A standard driver’s license or ID card without the star won’t be accepted for domestic flights and visitors will face delays, additional screening, and the possibility of not being permitted into the airport security checkpoint.
