U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (August, 4 2023) - The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism left a lasting impression serving as a premier destination sponsor and spotlight booth at the 86th Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Conclave, the organization’s annual Grand Chapter Meeting which took place at the Tampa Convention Center on July 18-23, 2023.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, one of the nation's oldest African American college fraternities, brought together its members for a week of events that discussed organizational business, provided mentoring and employment counseling, exclusive memorabilia sales, fellowship events, and more. With an impressive membership list that includes athletes, talk show hosts, astronauts, and other legendary icons, the fraternity holds great significance within the African American community. Notably, U.S. Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan Jr., is also a proud member, joining the organization in 1987 as an undergraduate at Wittenberg University and presently, as a member of the St. Croix Alumni Chapter.
Led by USVI Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte and supported by Governor Bryan, the Department of Tourism actively participated in the week's festivities showcasing the destination through an exhibit booth featuring vibrant musical performances, cultural dancers, moko jumbies, and crimson and cream memorabilia

This event provides an excellent platform to showcase the U.S. Virgin Islands and immerse ourselves within a group with such deep ties to the Territory and diaspora residing across the globe."
The most significant highlight of the weekend occurred during the Undergraduate Luncheon when Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. 34th Grand Polemarch Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq. presented Governor Bryan with his lifetime membership credentials.
“It’s an honor for me to have been recognized with this lifetime membership in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I’m delighted to be a member of this brotherhood that for more than 100 years has promoted community service, social welfare and academic scholarship worldwide,” said Governor Albert Bryan Jr., U.S. Virgin Islands.
