U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism Expands Preferred Partner Program, Focuses Q4 2025 Efforts on St. Croix District
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (August 19, 2025) – The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism is strengthening its support for local tourism businesses through the USVI Preferred Partner Program, launched in 2024 at the Governor’s Tourism Summit. The program combines destination optimization with digital marketing resources to boost businesses’ online presence, discoverability, and revenue potential. Beginning in the fourth quarter, the Department will focus on the St. Croix district, providing in-person workshops, professional photography sessions, and personalized one-on-one digital coaching for Crucian entrepreneurs.
The initiative provides no-cost access to:
- Enhanced Listings on VisitUSVI.com, featuring richer business profiles, professional photography, and 360° imagery.
- Digital Marketing Support through a Learning Management Platform, including Google Business Profile optimization, Tripadvisor strategies, short-form video content, and one-on-one coaching.
- Marketing Toolkits, including official Visit USVI decals, promotional materials, and branded merchandise.
Since its launch, the program has achieved measurable results:
- Nearly 700 local businesses now have complete listings on VisitUSVI.com and Google, up from fewer than 200 in July 2024.
- Over 2,600 professional photos, 360° images, and 90+ miles of Google Street View content have been published, generating more than 47 million views.
“The Preferred Partner Program is more than a marketing tool; it’s an investment in the economic health of our small businesses and the quality of our visitor experience,” said Jennifer Matarangas-King, Commissioner of Tourism. “We’re excited to dedicate this next phase to St. Croix, ensuring our Crucian entrepreneurs have the tools and visibility to compete in a global tourism market.”
The St. Croix-focused programming will continue to expand participation in the Preferred Partner Program, generate a robust Destination Dashboard Report, and increase in-market activations to capture photos, 360° content, and engage new businesses. It will also grow USVI’s industry contact database and visual assets, provide skills development and networking opportunities with key island organizations, and open pathways for international conversion through the Tourism Exchange for participating businesses.
