U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM NAMED 2023 SMART STARS AWARDS WINNER

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (May 16, 2023) – The United States Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has been named the 2023 Smart Stars Awards Winner in the CVB/DMO Category. Now in their 11th year, these prestigious awards are part of Smart Meeting’s 2023 Annual Planner’s Choice Awards

These awards have become an industry touchstone and an essential resource for meeting planners worldwide. They are based on the actual experiences of Smart Meetings magazine readers at venues and destinations around the world.

Smart Meetings is the leading meetings industry publisher and voice of inspiration for meeting professionals globally. The magazine publishes cutting-edge meetings content in print and digital form 12 times per year, hosts world-class networking events, produces CEU-accredited webinars, and offers a myriad of digital resources.

USVI Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte said, “Winning this award is a greatly appreciated acknowledgment of the longstanding and consistent teamwork between the Department of Tourism and our hotel and meeting space partners. Throughout the COVID recovery, we have redirected focus to retain partnerships and collaborate to garner meetings and deliver top-notch service for the industry. It is gratifying to receive this recognition directly from the travel planners themselves.”

Readers rated hotel and meeting venue providers on their general meeting experience and a range of amenities ranging from the most family-friendly hotel to the most elegant spa. The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism along with the winners of other categories will be featured in the June edition of Smart Meetings (print and digital editions), listed on the Smart Meetings website, smartmeetings.com, promoted through national email newsletters, as well as through the Smart Meetings social media channels.

The upcoming launch of The Westin Beach Resort and Spa at Frenchman’s Reef and the Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort, an Autograph Collection Hotel, which will offer almost 400 rooms and large event spaces, is anticipated to expand the hosting capacity of the territory, thereby creating more opportunities in the near future.
