LEARN THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE USVI

The USVI is known for its beauty, but our islands also possess a rich history and vibrant culture.

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN CENTURIES OF EXPERIENCES.

Visitors to our islands are encouraged to get to know the people of the islands, explore their heritage and celebrate their way of life.

Go back in time hiking or horseback riding down the Heritage Trail on St. Croix. Remember the somber past of enslavement as you tour plantation homes or visit the Estate Whim Museum, the oldest sugar plantation museum on the islands.

Explore Fort Christiansvaern, one of the five remaining Danish forts in the Virgin Islands, the Apothecary Museum, the St. George Village Botanical Garden and the Cruzan Rum Distillery.

Be moved by history when you visit Fort Frederik, the site of the emancipation of the slaves in 1848 in St. Croix. Feel the soul of St. Croix in the sugar mills that dot the island’s hills.

All three of our islands have historic houses of worship to explore – some with congregations dating back to the 1600s and one of the oldest synagogues in the Western Hemisphere.

Delve into the local food and experience the spirited celebrations of the three islands’ carnivals: St. Thomas in April, St. John from June-July, and St. Croix from December-January.

With 7 flags having flown over our islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands has drawn the eyes of many across the globe.

Come see the Real Nice adventure that waits in the tapestry of our experiences.

REAL NICE IS TOUCHING HISTORY.
